Monica
Childs was born in Northampton and later moved to Portsmouth where
she studied sculpture and printmaking at Winchester School of Art.
After leaving, her interests changed and she has now been painting
professionally for over twenty years. She has been a prominent member
of the St Ives Society of Artists. Her career began showing work at
the Lizard Art Club.
Monica has regularly
exhibited her work countrywide, and has sold to both local and foreign
collectors.
The main themes
of Monica's work are the peaceful rural scenes that are beginning
to disappear; narrow lanes, cottages, broken gates, old barns, farm
machinery and all "the crumbly bits".
